CE Sustainability Measures
Cablik Enterprises doesn’t just build sustainably; we also employ sustainable measures in our corporate office and operations. Our office space itself is located in the Glenwood Park development, one of Atlanta’s best examples of new urbanism. Glenwood Park contains a varied mix of uses, including residential, office, and retail. This mix helps to establish a strong sense of place, in which people feel comfortable and encouraged to spend time enjoying the development. In fact, many of Cablik Enterprises’ employees support the local businesses in Glenwood Park, which decreases the need for automobile use.
Our office space is centrally located near downtown Atlanta, which makes it easy for our clients and potential clients to reach us. Since we focus on intown properties, this means that our office is also located very near to the majority of our projects. This allows us to more easily manage our projects, since we can avoid long traffic times to go to each property.
Our office space is right-sized for our business; we use a modest amount of space, and furnish it conservatively. This not only keeps our overhead costs low, but also reduces our environmental impact since we use low amounts of energy within the space. Our office space has large windows for all workstations, which allows us to utilize daylighting whenever possible. For times when we do use lighting, all of our lighting fixtures are equipped with compact fluorescent light bulbs which use significantly less energy compared with comparable incandescent lighting. We acquired all of our office furniture from previous owners who were going out of business; this decision both eliminated potential waste into landfills, and also helped us to keep our overhead costs low. Furthermore, our property management company employs a recycling program for our office waste. We also strive for electronic communication with our clients and suppliers whenever possible, which helps to reduce the need for office paper.
We are constantly seeking ways to make our developments and our office more sustainable. We believe it’s not only the right thing to do, but it also saves us money, and that allows us to focus our efforts on continuing to deliver sustainable buildings to Atlanta.
